How Dust Swap works

Over time a Solana wallet fills up with leftover tokens worth a few cents, plus empty token accounts. Dust Swap turns the leftovers into SOL and gets back the small deposit that each token account holds, in a few clicks.

Quick start

  1. Connect your wallet. Pick Phantom, Backpack, Jupiter, Magic Eden or another Solana wallet. Dust Swap only reads what you hold.
  2. Choose what to clean up. Every token account in your wallet is listed. Everything that can be swapped or closed is ticked for you. Untick anything you want to keep.
  3. Press Review sweep. Dust Swap finds the best swap for each token and checks every transaction before asking you to sign. The big number at the top is what you will receive, and you can open the full breakdown to see every fee.
  4. Approve in your wallet. Your wallet asks you to confirm each transaction, usually a handful per round. The SOL arrives within seconds, and each transaction links to Solscan so you can see it.
  5. Rescan and repeat. Press Rescan wallet to see what is left. If you have a lot of tokens, Dust Swap cleans them up in rounds of 10 swaps, most valuable first, so you are never asked to approve dozens of transactions at once. Just run another round until the list is empty.

What is rent?

Every token you hold sits in its own token account, and Solana asks for a small SOL deposit (about 0.002 SOL) to keep it open. This deposit is called rent. When you close an empty account, the deposit comes back to you. Dust adds up: 20 old accounts is roughly 0.04 SOL you are not using.

What the Action column means

  • Swap to SOL: the token is sold for SOL, then its empty account is closed and the rent is returned.
  • Remove (empty): the account is already empty, so it is simply closed and the rent is returned.
  • Unwrap to SOL: wrapped SOL is turned back into normal SOL.
  • Skipped: Dust Swap leaves these alone. This covers frozen accounts and anything that looks like an NFT.
  • No route: shown after you press Review when no swap to SOL is available for that token. See burning below.

Fees

You always see every fee in the review before you sign.

  • Swap fee: 0.69% of the SOL you get from swapping a token.
  • Rent fee: 2% of the rent returned from each closed account.
  • Network fee: a tiny fee paid to Solana, usually well under 0.0001 SOL per transaction. Keep a little SOL in your wallet to cover it.

Swaps are allowed to move up to 1% against you before they cancel. The review shows both the estimate and the minimum you can receive.

Hiding big balances

Hide balances above $10 is switched on when you arrive, so your valuable tokens stay out of the list. Change the dollar amount to move the line, or untick the box to see everything. Hidden tokens are left out of the sweep completely, so you cannot swap them by accident. Tokens with no known price always stay visible.

When a token has no route

Some tokens show a value but cannot be swapped, because nobody is trading them right now. After you press Review, these appear under not included. For each one you can tick Burn & close instead, which destroys the tokens and closes the account so you still get the rent back.

Burning is permanent. The tokens cannot be recovered, so only burn things you are sure you do not want. Nothing is ever burned unless you tick the box and confirm.

Is it safe?

  • Dust Swap never asks for your seed phrase or private key.
  • You are the only signer. Nothing happens unless you approve in your own wallet.
  • Rent from closed accounts always goes back to your wallet. Dust Swap never asks you to give it control of your tokens.
  • Every transaction is simulated first. If one would fail, it is left out instead of sent.
  • You can open the transaction in your wallet before approving, and on Solscan afterwards, to check every transfer.

Common questions

Why is the amount only an estimate?

Token prices move. The review shows the expected amount and the minimum after slippage.

Can I undo a sweep?

No. Swaps and burns are final. Closing an empty account is harmless, since an account is created again automatically if you ever receive that token.

Why did Review take a few seconds?

Dust Swap is fetching live swap quotes and testing each transaction before showing you the result.

The review changed when I pressed approve.

Swap quotes go stale after under a minute. If you wait too long, pressing approve refreshes the review instead of sending, so check the new numbers and approve again.

A token I expected is missing.

Check the hide filter, then press the refresh icon above the list. Frozen accounts, NFT-like tokens, and tokens nobody is trading (so they can't be swapped) are left out on purpose.
